The Painting Center, in SoHo, New York, was created in April of 1993 by twelve painters who felt there was an urgent need for a space devoted entirely to the exhibition of paintings. This diverse group of painters, united in their devotion to the medium, sought to develop an on-line selling environment reflecting the intellectual, emotional, and visceral sensibilities of the members. We created a fresh, vital, painterly identity and on-line gallery that presents the paintings in a rich and colorful manner—supported by a weblog and artfile showcasing guest artist exhibitions.
