Art in America
Annual Guide Cover Design & Promotion
Noted for its scholarly yet readable style, Art in America contains art news and criticism, exhibition reviews, artist profiles, feature articles, and critiques of new talent.
With every monthly issue, the publication creates a fascinating picture of the colorful, ever changing, often controversial art scene.
We created a series of subscription promotions based on the concept of "Color in the Holidays" with a coloring book rendition of the brand. We then put a neo-psychedelic digital spin on the traditional TV test pattern at the dawn of the digital age for the Annual Guide to Galleries, Museums and Artists.
The visual concepts were designed to appeal particularly to what Doug Walla, founder of the esteemed Kent Gallery, called "the hyper-critical New York art community."
