For Rauschenberg's New Works 1991 exhibition at Knoedler & Company, the artist's focus shifts back to the metal painted surfaces of the Borealis series (1989-92). |
|
The corroded browns and blue-greens of Borealis are reactions of the painted tarnishing agents to the brass, bronze, and copper grounds. We featured the sleek patinas of these stunning works in full-bleed images with the typography colored turquoise to reflect the copper tarnish in Art Forum, Art In America, and ARTNews advertisements. Knoedler also exhibited these works in the 1991 ADAA Art Show at the Armory. |
